Holidays and Books go together like eggs and bacon. We all love to read books, others are busy writing books and this time of year we all like to give and get books for presents. You may have your favorite bookstore that you love to visit and browse through to see all the new offerings, the lovely book covers, as well as the book paraphernalia and other things being offered. For some of us we have to content ourselves with browsing online from Amazon, Barnes and Noble and even the iTunes iBookstore to sate our cravings. Of course, visiting your local library is always nice and should be encouraged every single week. But there is just something special about picking out a brand new book for ourselves or our loved ones. Holding the book in our hands, looking through the pages and pictures is a sensory delight to most readers and writers.

SELF PUBLISH WITH CREATESPACE
Our Book has been finalized and available in paperback format on CreateSpace. It offers “Print-on-Demand” services for self-publishing authors. They have great informational help sections to create your book, online previewers to see what your book will look like before it is available for printing and you get great author prices to buy a copy or ten of your book for you, your family and possibly sell your book yourself at festivals, shows, etc. You can do as much as you want in the process of getting your book ready for publishing or pay CreateSpace to do almost every single step for you. They have a wonderful free formatting guide you can download and we suggest that you read through it first before you go through your final draft. We highly recommend you buy a copy or two of the paperback proof of your book and have a couple of friends read through it before you submit the book for finalizing. They will give you a FREE ISBN number which is also great. They will not submit the book to the Library of Congress you will need to do that yourself.

What’s Happening This Week? We have added our very own Acrobat Reader PDF version of our recently published eBook called the Insider’s Guide to Campground Hosting in Florida Parks. Since we sell eBooks we thought we would offer a slightly different version here than we have published on Amazon Kindle and Smashwords. These two self-publishing companies are great for fiction writers but not so much for non-fiction writers. Non-Fiction books should have an index of terms and appendix pages available for their readers. This is as close to a paperback or hardback copy of our book as you can get. Granted, you are able to search for keywords within the eBook versions of our book on both sites but for those of us who like to look through indexes in books to find stuff and really appreciated accompanying material in our non-fiction books then Acrobat Reader PDFs are the way to go.

I don’t know about you but I sometimes find it very hard to try new things. We all get in a routine and it is difficult to break out of it. Don’t get me wrong I love traveling in our old RV, creating websites for people and making my bead and wire jewelry but now I have pushed myself to publish my very own book. Hey! I am now a Northeast Florida writer too now.
In the last couple of days I finally bit the bullet and finished my first eBook about workamping in Florida. From Our Great Adventure website you can read about where we have been, see pictures, read reviews and telling our readers about volunteering. I thought it would be a great idea to write a resource book for those who may not know of all the opportunities available for those of us who like being on the road, seeing new sights and learning about history, ecology and our environment.
