Anna Pigeon Park Ranger

Anna Pigeon, Park Ranger, is a series written by Nevada Barr about a woman who loves the outdoors and became a park ranger that travels from national park to national park getting involved with murder mysteries along the way. I have read most of this series up until the last few when we started traveling around in our old RV in 2012. I do have some catching up to do and will probably restart the series over again just to enjoy and get caught up. Since we have visited quite a few of our Florida State Parks I may have to start writing some mysteries set in some of the places we have visited too!

Nevada Barr was also a park ranger during her younger years after trying a career in acting but her love of writing finally won out and she has been doing that ever since. Her first couple of novels were based on her experiences as a park ranger, boat captain and law enforcement all with the National Park System. Later she would just visit the parks she writes about for a while to complete her stories. I know because my uncle retired from the National Park Service and told me she stayed in his park doing research for one of her books. It is a very good series with lots of action but her novels can be kind of dark and moody. But definitely worth the read.
