Florida Christmas

Florida Christmas is always a time of something strange in the weather as well as family and friends coming in or you going to other areas of the country. We all wish for our family to be around us during the holidays and don’t usually mind an extra person or two who may not have somewhere to go during the season. Florida has it’s ups and downs with the weather in that sometimes we are warm and sometimes we are cold and you just never know until the day comes to know which one you are going to have. We all associate the winter holiday with cold weather, fireplaces crackling and stockings on the hearth. It is the time for hot drinks and decadent desserts. But here we can and do often have our Christmas break wearing shorts and hoping for a cold drink. Never mind not starting a fire.

For those in the northern and western states that almost always have snow, and sometimes too much of it, we wish you well and hope you have safe travels but we will stick to our warm weather. It is much easier on these old bones and we are less likely to get one of those amazingly wild holiday sweaters. Of course, that doesn’t mean we won’t get some crazy socks instead but you can usually hide those in your shoes and inside your slacks so people won’t be able to tell you’re wearing them.

One great thing about living in Florida we do have sunshine almost all year round. One can only hope that this year will be the one when we will get serious about decreasing the prices of solar panels, coming up with more efficient ones and more people will begin to use them. Of course, if someone could invent a very efficient one that is smaller and creates more power that would be pretty great as well. Sadly, my brother (Happy Birthday Bro) still doesn’t want solar because of the battery room it requires to be of any use to the average household. I can’t really blame him those deep cell batteries are very heavy, take up a lot of room and are very expensive to replace every 5 years. I might as well include that on my wishlist as well. Who can come up with a power storage unit that doesn’t have the same properties as a battery in that they cost less, last longer and need fewer of them to be effective?

Well, happy holidays Y’all. Be safe and see ya next year.
