Encouraging writers of all ages have always been something we would like to see all the time. Teachers encourage younger kids to create little books withdrawing their own pictures and practicing their spelling words. Later they are encouraged to write about their summer vacations and in middle and high school we had to write reports and stories for literature classes. For those who love making up stories, they keep on writing almost every single day. Then computers were invented and we began to type up our stories and save them on our hard drives. They can be saved for years to come, edited, cut, and paste into different documents and not have all those pesky papers and notebooks gathering dust, and sometimes housing creations.

Now we can type up stories on our laptops, smartphones, and iPads and save them in the Cloud. In the Cloud, you can collaborate with other writers from around the world if you like to save and share your stories with each other. There are even fan fiction sites where you can create stories based on your favorite movie, book, or gaming characters. These are great places to practice writing skills from the time you think you would like to be a writer to the time you finally decide to create your own stories for publication.

As parents, partners, friends, and family I would hope that we would encourage the artistic endeavors of the ones we love. We may understand what they are trying to create but the fact that they are wanted to create rather than destroy is something of a miracle and should be encouraged as much as possible. To that end, writers should be able to make money with their skills in order to live and create more great stories in the future.

Meeting other published writers, holding meetings, learning sessions, and sharing how and what we do is great for any type of profession. To that end, we hope you will attend as many writing events, workshops, and writing organization meetings as you can. Having a support system is so helpful for us loners who need to get out in the world in between books.
