Trying New Things

LittleAndBigShoalsTrail09182014 (29)I don’t know about you but I sometimes find it very hard to try new things. We all get in a routine and it is difficult to break out of it. Don’t get me wrong I love traveling in our old RV, creating websites for people and making my bead and wire jewelry but now I have pushed myself to publish my very own book. Hey! I am now a Northeast Florida writer too now.

In the last couple of days I finally bit the bullet and finished my first eBook about workamping in Florida. From Our Great Adventure website you can read about where we have been, see pictures, read reviews and telling our readers about volunteering. I thought it would be a great idea to write a resource book for those who may not know of all the opportunities available for those of us who like being on the road, seeing new sights and learning about history, ecology and our environment.

Almost every single one of our Florida public lands could use volunteers in one capacity or another. So I contacted every state park, forest, wildlife and water management area as well as county parks, national parks, national forests and a few other places that manage our public lands here in Florida to see what kinds of opportunities are available for live on-site volunteers. Strangely, almost every single one of them said they have difficulty getting volunteers during the late spring to early fall months.

That is really sad, so I am calling on all Floridians who have a couple of months this next summer to load up their recreational vehicles and volunteer at one of these great places! That could include teachers, college students and retirees. We cannot let the “Snowbirds” have all the fun now can we?
