Holidays and Books go together like eggs and bacon. We all love to read books, others are busy writing books and this time of year we all like to give and get books for presents. You may have your favorite bookstore that you love to visit and browse through to see all the new offerings, the lovely book covers, as well as the book paraphernalia and other things being offered. For some of us we have to content ourselves with browsing online from Amazon, Barnes and Noble and even the iTunes iBookstore to sate our cravings. Of course, visiting your local library is always nice and should be encouraged every single week. But there is just something special about picking out a brand new book for ourselves or our loved ones. Holding the book in our hands, looking through the pages and pictures is a sensory delight to most readers and writers.
Sadly, with the economic times, more and more people are going towards eBooks in all versions, a lot of the bookstores are closing. Some may say that this is a normal economic occurrence and we should just go with it but I really like going to bookstores, (I really hate going to the mall and every other kind of shopping), visiting our local libraries and giving books as gifts. It would be a shame if these types of venues goes out of style so that our grandchildren and their children may not get to experience it for themselves. No matter your preference, in eBooks, hardback or even paperback, we hope you will take the time to visit a local bookstore in the coming weeks, buy something if you can, and recommend your favorites to your friends and family. There is room for both kinds of reading if we all pitch in when and where we can.
We here at Jolene’s eBooks and Craft Items want to wish everyone of our readers a safe and happy holiday season. See ya next year!
