Fall Is A Great Time to Do Something New

HalloweenBlackCatAndPumpkinFall is a great time to do something new. Even here on our website we have rearranged things and are trying new things to reach more readers and customers. We are using a new eCommerce tools for our eBooks that we sell and have added most of our “mailed” products to a very secure website called SquareUp. For those not familiar with it, SquareUp, started offering FREE credit card processing swipers for those small businesses with smartphones. They do not charge a monthly fee only a small credit card processing charge so that small businesses are able to accept all the major credit cards for their customers. It is a great tool for those of us who are vendors at craft shows, flea markets and events. They handle all the transactions through their secure server and deposit your sales directly into your bank account within 24 to 48 hours less their small fee. Your customers are happy and you get your money very quickly.

Now they are offering their customers access to putting your merchandise on their online marketplace. It is directly linked to your credit card processing account. Customers can go online to purchase your goods and you mail them out. Or when you are a vendor at an event you just click on the items that the customer purchased and your marketplace pages are updated with the new inventory count. Of course, if you have only one of a kind pieces your online customers will know that it has been sold as soon as you process that transaction with your event customer. SquareUp does not charge for this service. They have excellent tools so that you can embed your SquareUp Marketplace page on your website, blog and Facebook page as well. You may be asking yourself why we have our handcrafted items on Etsy, Handmade Artists and now SquareUp Marketplace. Well, it is all about getting more exposure for your items and giving your customers more choices. We have decided to offer our eBook using a new eCommerce tool here on this website. And separating our handcrafted or physical goods using these other websites. We want to offer our customers more choices and to feel secure in our handling of their credit information. All of these tools feature safe and secure processing and we never have access to their credit or banking information. And it just makes sense to have a variety of different marketing strategies in place. Granted, all of this takes a lot of time but in the end we truly believe that it will be worth it.

This is also the reason why we decided to publish my first book on Amazon and Smashwords. We will have an Acrobat Reader version available on this website as well very soon with a linked index. Amazon nor Smashwords allow eBook authors to include indexes in the eBooks only a linked Table of Contents. But with a non-fiction book it doesn’t seem right to not have a fully linked index so that people can see quickly find the keywords within the book and go to those pages directly. Anyway, it is all about exposure and getting people to look at what you have to offer. The objective is to sell and in today’s world we have to use all of the tools we have available that don’t cost us an arm-and-a-leg to utilize.

Enjoy the fall season and try something new. Till next time.
