New eBook Store Plug-in. Yes, we are once again trying to a new eCommerce plug-in for our eBook store page. We have not been satisfied with any of the FREE eCommerce plug-ins being offered on WordPress.org and are not willing to pay for one until we actually find one that will work with our own WordPress theme and, of course, we begin to make some book sales. We have moved most of our handcrafted (physical items) that we have for sale to our Square-Up Marketplace account. They handle all the financial transactions and we just ship the items. Since, I have always wanted to own and operate my own bookstore I am determined to keep at it until I find one that works for me. We have an inventory of over 200 eBooks that we have the resell rights to and will be adding them a little at a time. We have some more that we haven’t been able to assess yet and will work on those once we have the others added. Almost every single one of those will only be $1.00 and are available for immediate download with all payments being processed through PAYPAL. Again, we will not have access to your financial information with them either. Continue reading “New eBook Store Plugin”
Fall is a great time to do something new. Even here on our website we have rearranged things and are trying new things to reach more readers and customers. We are using a new eCommerce tools for our eBooks that we sell and have added most of our “mailed” products to a very secure website called SquareUp. For those not familiar with it, SquareUp, started offering FREE credit card processing swipers for those small businesses with smartphones. They do not charge a monthly fee only a small credit card processing charge so that small businesses are able to accept all the major credit cards for their customers. It is a great tool for those of us who are vendors at craft shows, flea markets and events. They handle all the transactions through their secure server and deposit your sales directly into your bank account within 24 to 48 hours less their small fee. Your customers are happy and you get your money very quickly. Continue reading “Fall Is A Great Time to Do Something New”
I don’t know about you but I sometimes find it very hard to try new things. We all get in a routine and it is difficult to break out of it. Don’t get me wrong I love traveling in our old RV, creating websites for people and making my bead and wire jewelry but now I have pushed myself to publish my very own book. Hey! I am now a Northeast Florida writer too now.
In the last couple of days I finally bit the bullet and finished my first eBook about workamping in Florida. From Our Great Adventure website you can read about where we have been, see pictures, read reviews and telling our readers about volunteering. I thought it would be a great idea to write a resource book for those who may not know of all the opportunities available for those of us who like being on the road, seeing new sights and learning about history, ecology and our environment. Have you been on KDP Amazon Yet? I have and have started the self-publishing journey with my first book. They have some really great tools for new authors such as eBook cover art studio, how to promote your book tools, and even preview tools so you can see how your eBook will look on various eBook readers including IPads, IPhones and more. They have simple instructions on how to create your book in a Microsoft Word document and then converts your book into their .mobi format to sell online. https://kdp.amazon.com/
For those of us who are willing to learn how to self-publish they seem to have the simplest tools to use. You, alone, have to decide if their terms are worth it to you. All you have to do is create your account with the publishing branch of Amazon. You can use your Amazon account, if you like, and they transfer most of your information over for you. You will have to link a bank account to this account as the royalties you receive from your sales will go directly into your bank account. Of course, you will have to fill our a W-9 form for taxes. You will have to file and pay your own income taxes from these earnings and might want to talk to an accountant about that. And you can read more about it on the IRS website under self-employement And, depending, on what state you live in you might have to file state taxes as well. Recently we added a page to our website about Other Craft Items For Sale. We were inspired to create a page for a Quilter named Suzanne who contacted us via email about selling her quilts on our online store. We thought that was a terrific idea. Creating your handcrafted items is really hard work, we know because we do that too, and selling them is even harder. Continue reading “Want to Sell Your Crafts”
